Download bitmessage4/12/2023 To find your computer's IP and MAC address, you can run c:>ipconfig in a cmd window. ![]() This you should be able to configure in your router under DHCP. If you have to use port forwarding you also need to make sure that your device always has the same IP address. To forward port 8444 from you router/modem, you create entries in port triggering or, if that doesn't work in port forwarding (called virtual server on my router) To open the port on your firewall, you go to control panel/firewall and you create a rule to allow incoming traffic UDP/TCP on port 8444. Most programs take care of these things automatically for you at installation, but Bitmessage hasn't quite got that far yet. I've read everything and tried numerous things but the damn thing doesn't work. I opened it up and my light says it's connected then like 2 seconds later, it turns red. There are 2 common reasons for this: either your firewall blocks incoming traffic on port 8444 and/or your router/modem doesn't forward port 8444 to your computer. I've downloaded BitMessage from the website. I've had that red light problem in the past. You obviously got the software running, so that part should be fine, although you might wanna check that you have a recent version from Peter mailchuck.
